According to the Loup Ventures investigation, it is expected that the market of industrial robotics grows 175 % during the next decade. The main approach of this growth will be collaboration. The days of this distant myth saying that robots will replace human beings are gone. The most promising netting of this technology based on artificial intelligence comes from collaborative robots. Also they are called cobots. They are designed to work together with human beings and to help them to complete several tasks.

Efficacy in repetitive tasks from the line of production

Beyerdynamic, a manufacturer of audio accessories, needed to increase the plant’s productivity by 50% in only four years. To achieve this, they implemented the robot named Robotiq 2-Finger Gripper that works like a delicate tweezer simulating 2 fingers. Its complement is a camera to detect and to collect the speakers. Once it grabs them, they are located into a delicate area where the pieces are sprayed with glue.

The second robot, a Universal Robot UR 5, was in charge of the task of pulverizing the excess of glue. Together they increased the production rate by 50 %. Also, the workforce from Beyerdynamic inform that, in spite of the limited space in the factory, it is easy to work along with the robots. Now they have plans to train the machines for other responsibilities, like screw insertion and final assembly handling for the products.

Gardening using robots with open code

Farmbot designs and sells agricultural robots with open code. It is controlled by a battery Arduino Mega/RAMPS, together with a Raspberry Pi 3 connected to Internet. Also made of NEMA engines and revolving codifiers. The biggest risk for this open code entrepreneurship is any other company that produces imitations. The device works like a 3D printer with tools that runs along the two rails. This allows the robot to come anywhere where flowers are planted and it can be controlled with a simple web interface to eliminate automatically any kinds of bad weeds, to water and plant seeds.

Check the quality of the products

The process generally implies a finished check of completed pieces, high resolution images for pieces mechanized with precision and pieces verification with CAD models.
